2012 Tournament Recap
The 2012 Copper Cup Hockey Tournament took place March 23 - 25, 2012 at Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids. 18 teams competed for three championships, A Division, B Division and Gentlemen's Division. The tournament showcased some excellent hockey and raised over $2500 for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Michigan. Thanks again to all sponsors and volunteers for their support in making this a great weekend.
12 teams competed for the Gentlemen's Division crown. 2 teams emerged from the round robin to the championship game on Sunday, Muskegon and Cheboygan. In an extremely well played game that went back and forth, Cheboygan came out on top to claim the Cup.
In the B Division championship game, GRPOA took on an original team from the Birch Run days, UP Lock-n-Hose. In another close game, UP Lock-n-Hose edged out GRPOA to win the prize and give the Cup a tour of the Upper Peninsula.
In the final game of the championships, Action Target went to battle with Oakland County for the A Division crown. The game seen Action Target jump out early and Oakland County clawed back but they could not over take Action Target who claimed their first crown.
